Dean shares how he stays active without complicated diet and exercise plans, because this book is not selling any. You'll also get advice on tuning your sleep habits to help your mood stability. Finally, even if you're not an alcoholic, you still have to rethink how you use alcohol. The author shares what worked for him. For those newly diagnosed with a mood disorder, probably the biggest unknown is medication. The Mood Disorder Manual helps you understand how to monitor your medicine's effects, and discusses staying on it. Anxiety is something that people--especially men--often don't pay attention to until it's too late. A.C. Dean shares his vivid experiences with anxiety and explains why we shouldn't be ashamed to have to deal with it. The Manual gives advice on how to manage your anxiety, and some guidance on anxiety medication. Once you know about and start treating your mood disorder, you also have to re-learn how to navigate your relationships, especially with your kids. Many men resist the idea of counseling and therapy, but The Manual gives you straight talk on why you should go, what you should get out of it and how to most effectively use a counselor. A.C. Dean shares the five warning signs of his own mood-instability events, and prompts you to identify your own. When you know what to look for, you can use the warnings to line up your reinforcements before a mood instability event does damage. The Manual for Mood Disorders for Men & Their Partners gives you straight-talking advice and encouragement to take back your life, take care of yourself and take care of your loved ones.
